Description
I was trying to install an aux port in a 2004 540i and bought a cable from dealer for almost $100 with tax(part 65 12 0 153 502). Later I found out that people recommend taking a resistor out of that cable to make the sound better (better bass). I started researching more and was able to find some genuine BMW parts and soldered everything together and made the cable and installed it. Sounds perfect. I decided to make some more and help other people save some money on this cable. COMES WITH GENUINE BMW 3.5mm JACK AND GENUINE BMW PINS. Compared to $89 plus tax at stealership. ~The cable comes about 18" long. Make sure that is long enough for you, if not I'm willing to make it longer for a small fee~ "I have a DIY video on YouTube" LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE ASKED IF CODING IS REQUIRED: YES coding is required!!! THE ONLY situation where you dont need coding is if you already have the aux option in your iDrive entertainment menu. There's many people out there who can code it for you, look on the forums or craigslist to find one in your area. It's quick and easy for people who have inpa set up. I code too but I'm in seattle area. Dealer can do it as well but I have no idea how much they charge, you would be better off finding some guy who does it. Some indie shops do it as well. As for the price, I would charge $20 to code it, so I'm guessing that's what other people charge too, but not sure.
